An original design is created from specially formulated clay. This model is used to make the mold.
Clay is then pressed into the mold to produce a rough wet clay piece. It is then smoothed and a unique design is etched.
Each piece is then dried for 12 hours, placed in a Kiln for a further 12 hours and is then cooled an additional 12 hours being removed from the Kiln. This 36 hour process results in the
"Bisqued" piece which is now ready to be painted.
Each piece is then painted with specially formulated glazes. Designs are influenced by the Ndebele Tribe of South Africa.
The painted item is then fired to 950 degrees centigrade and then placed in a bed of sawdust. This severe change in temperature shocks the clay which causes the crackling effect which is
so unique to the process.
The end result is a beautiful and unique collectors item.
